ACPPA Principal Focus Group Consultation Report 2018

In May 2017 the Executive Officer of the Australian Catholic Primary Principals’ Association (ACPPA) was commissioned to undertake a consultation process as a result of a strategic directive outlined by the National Executive Council in the Strategic Plan 2017 - 2019.

The process aimed to assist ACPPA in gaining a more detailed understanding of members’ requirements, their awareness of membership and benefits, the level of desire for engagement and the modes such engagement may take.

In November of 2017 a comprehensive 26 question online survey was conducted for all Catholic Primary Principals and this was followed up with a face to face volunteer focus groups of Principals in seven States and Territories during February/March this year.

While the report was extensive, the key recommendations were focussed around three themes...ADVOCACY, COMMUNICATION and CONNECTION

  • ACPPA to act as an advocate and equip Principals to take an active role in sharing educational perspective and opinion with each other and the broader educational arena.
  • ACPPA to create a communal space to nurture, support and inform leaders possibly through a website portal to allow content and knowledge to be accessed easily and readily.
  • ACPPA to initiate research projects and disseminate relevant data for the improvement and growth of our Catholic education sector.

At present the ACPPA Executive are working on our new strategic plan which will incorporate these key findings and place ACPPA in a better position to support all Catholic Primary Principals across Australia.

We would like to thank tatu for their thorough and professional approach to implementing this process and also extend a warm and sincere thank you to every Principal who particpated in some way for the collection of this most important data.

Our commitment is to keep you informed about our next steps.

We welcome further feedback and comment. (contact details below)
